A lot of people know me as being a doctor of optometry, but I am also a Certified Clinical Homeopath. This means that I am able to treat a broader scope of conditions beyond what traditional optometry treats. Sure, we are able to treat eye conditions such as conjunctivitis, iritis, and dry eye with prescription medications such as antibiotics and steroids. However, as a mother, I saw the need for using medications and surgery as little as possible, and that Is why I studied to become a Certified Clinical Homeopath.
Homeopathy is based on the idea that if a substance causes a symptom in a healthy person, giving the person a very small amount of the same substance may cure the illness much faster. In theory, a homeopathic dose enhances the body’s normal healing and self-regulatory processes. Through the use of natural treatments we trigger the body’s self-healing abilities. We are talking of a treatment which is absolutely harmless for all patients, from babies to the most elderly.
Through Clinical Homeopathy all of our patients get the “best of both worlds” in treatment options whenever possible. Your body keeps you well through your built-in immune system, but sometimes it gets out of balance, and you need help stimulating it. When your immune system is compromised by stress, injury or insult to the body, pathogens or toxins invade your body and upset the balance which keeps you healthy – Clinical Homeopathy is designed to help restore the balance. Homeopathic medicine will also help your body to repair injury by drawing upon the body’s self-healing properties, and can be used as a first-line treatment for a large number of medical conditions, either alone, or in conjunction with conventional medicine.
Examples of vision problems that I can treat or support with homeopathy include: allergies, dry eyes, eye lid twitching, and cataracts. I combine this with traditional treatments for an integrative approach that is more effective in many cases. We also offer telemedicine consultations for patients who cannot make it to our office.
